The curriculum at the Institute of Cartography and Geoinformation (IKG) involves several project course. Here, we showcase some students works that leverage free and open source software for geoinformation.


Chicago - Explore Crime, Ethnicity and Socioeconomic indicators

This atlas of Chicago is the result of a group project for the course in Multimedia Cartography at ETH Zurich in the Spring Semester 2016.
The aim of the project was to display statistical data about crime, ethnicity and socioeconomic indicators for the city of Chicago with modern web technology and external JavaScript libraries. It is meant to be consulted by citizens, urban planners and any persons interested in these topics.
Work from Heinz Gnehm, Konstantinos Schoinas, and Giulio Tagliaferro under the supervision of Hansruedi Bär, René Sieber, and Nadia Panchaud.
